Project: The Panthers – TV Mini-Series
Date: January–August 2021
Set in Auckland, 1974, The Panthers explores the rise of a revolutionary movement for justice and equality, led by a group of Polynesian students and street gangsters in response to increased racial targeting. This critically acclaimed series was produced with the support of NZ On Air.
Role: Prop Artist/Designer
Designed and created props and materials for on-screen use, ensuring historical and cultural authenticity.
Collaborated closely with the art and production teams to develop immersive visual elements that captured the essence of 1970s Auckland and enhanced the storytelling.
Crafted detailed, period-accurate designs to support the narrative’s powerful themes of resistance and social justice.
Outcome:
The series received praise for its powerful storytelling and authentic portrayal of Polynesian activism, with the props contributing to the visual depth and credibility of the historical setting.
